(chosen by David for Thursday 2nd April)

Running through the Spring countryside reminded me how most of nature has no awareness that this coronavirus is rampant. Spring is driving new life forward - even into new places vacated by sheltering humans. In fact, this tiny virus has reminded us of our place in the world.

Spring shoots, green hope, nests and warming tilths
Gaia uncoils slowly, probing spaces freed by fear
Asserting a recovered ownership of usurped earth
Each step now of retreat, returning to an artificial hiding
Dancing between silver birch and tall oak,
Sward and hedgerow
I am a passenger in this rolling nature
Which wraps around and arches overhead
Placed at last by our tiniest cousins
In a fragile context
